Brent Ridge (born in
Flint, Michigan, USA) is known for unearthing an abstract landscape of
detrius. He pushes the limits of its meaning with a relentless
drive. His art offers us the synthesis of these forms, and with it the
hard won truths that emerge from this process. He graduated from Michigan
State University with a BFA in Painting. Mr. Ridge cut his proverbial
teeth as an artist living and working in New York City before coming to
Scotland. He is in his second year of the MFA program at the Glasgow
School of Art. He has exhibited in group, 2-person and solo show formats
through the years in places such as New York, Philadelphia, Cologne and Glasgow
among others. He has had solo shows at the V&A Gallery, New York
(2008); Heather’s Project Space, New York (2010); and the Assembly Gallery of
the Glasgow School of Art, Glasgow (2010).
