In 2008 he exhibited at the Carnegie International, Pittsburgh, the SydneyBiennial and the Whitstable Biennale. 'The Die is Cast', Gander's most extensive soloexhibition to date, was at Villa Arson, Centre National d'Art Contemporain, Nice, inr 2009.
In 2003 Gander won the 'Prix de Rome' for sculpture and in 2005 he was short listed forthe British art Prize 'Becks Futures' and won the Baloise Art Statement Prize at Art Basel. In2006, he won the ABN AMRO prize of the Netherlands and he was awarded the 2007Paul Hamlyn Award for Visual Arts. He has recently been awarded the prestigious ZurichArt Prize.
